i got my marks back today so i’ve been thinking about how bullshit it is that some subjects have assessment that isn’t even that subject’s thing

like in english, i am very good at english, i can write and analyse and all that at an A level of quality, but i haven’t got an A in english for YEARS because i cannot do speeches. like there’s ONE assessment that screws up my entire grade every time because speaking in front of people is terrifying.

and then in art, i have a hard time getting an A in art because 50% of the assessment isn’t even art. it’s visual art diary and essay. and even though i get 95-100% on Actually Doing Art, i get a low A at most because i’m not great at the other stuff. it’s bullshit.

Tags+ it also sucks because i feel like the visual diary as an assignment is geared towards people who aren't that into art, and EVEN THOUGH i'm great at art, and if that's my vapd that's great, because the visual art diary (and essay to an extent) bring down my grade so much, but like i am always drawing, especially since like, i draw on whatever is in front of me, i probably won't analyse it though because i'm too busy on the next drawing, i'm almost certainly not getting any bonus points, it's geared towards people who approach art by going 'ok i will draw today. i will draw in my vapd. then i will analyse it., like??? i literally do too much art to put in my visual diary, so i get marked down for not doing a great job on it, that is all i have drawn this week.', ugh, when applying to uni you can get bonus points added to your atar if you do particularly well at relevant subjects, which works for some people and that's great
