Why would someone who wants to identify as lesbian (and therefore a woman) use he/him?lesbians aren’t necessarily binary women, there’s lots of lesbians who identify as nonbinary! and trans/nb lesbians sometimes use he/him pronouns just to make ourselves feel comfortable. especially butch lesbians, because of the assumed femininity of she/her pronouns and our complicated relationships with gender and femininity as (butch) lesbians. but pronouns =/= gender, which is why lesbians can use he/him pronouns and still be women/lesbians
Also, sometimes trans lesbians choose to use he/him not just for their own safety but also because they personally feel that the misgendering hurts less if they already use he/him pronouns.
It’s really easy to reblog cute little graphics about how pronouns don’t equal gender, but unfortunately as soon as that’s put into practice people freak out 🙁
