sweet bro and hella jeff is perhaps the most influential media of our time

you could be joking but i really think that sbahj changed the face of internet humor in a way that nothing else has. i think p much all memes on tumblr and even on other places on the internet is born from a sbahj place

yknow i think sbahj and, subsequently, similar stuff like Jpeg Deepfrying go beyond “funny because its intentionally bad” and sort of enter a zone of “you have to do it right to make it a specific kind of bad”, or, “low quality as aesthetically pleasing and contextually funny”

like in 2011 or w.e, the peak of sbahj popularity, there’d be a lot of imitators and itd be like, “no, this isnt good, the typos are too contrived and the shitty art isnt the right brand of shitty,” but then you remember sbahj isnt actually good in the first place, and you hate yourself

Okay so I have to go do stuff but I’m gonna leave y’all with a story

I knew a kid in high school who was kind of a stoner/slacker type, right? We all know someone like this. And one day I mention Dave Strider in class and he looks up and goes “THE AUTHOR OF SWEET BRO AND HELLA JEFF???” and I go ??? and he just goes on this rave about how much he loves SBaHJ and how he checks for updates every week and I asked if he liked Homestuck and he didn’t know what Homestuck was.

Ladies and gentlemen we found a SBaHJ fan.
