For everyone claiming that Moffat chose Capaldi because he was “the best for the role”

Capaldi was THE ONLY PERSON HE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE.

He didn’t even let anyone else audition.

It wasn’t like a diverse group of actors of all races, ethnicities, genders, and talents showed up and were all carefully considered and Capaldi was simply the most choice of the lot.

He was the only one Moffat even looked at for the role.

I have nothing against Capaldi personally, but seriously. That excuse is a steaming pile of raccoon shit.

– Head writer chooses actor who he already thought was a great actor and personally admired
– actor happens to be white, like all 12 previous actors had been.
– therefore, head writer must be racist

(Face palm) Honesty, the fandom pisses me off sometime

Do you REALLY think that is the extent and depth of this argument? Seriously?

-Head writer has exactly zero PoC companions or recurring PoC characters on the show for several seasons.

-Under the head writer, the show often includes problematic/racist content when PoC characters are included.

-Head writer continuously has sexist tropes, stereotypes, and content in the show.

-Other shows the head writer works on have the exact same issues with race and gender.

-In interviews, the head writer makes multiple problematic remarks about women and sexualities other than straight.

-When a new doctor is due to be cast, there is a huge movement from the fandom bidding for more diversity in the casting.

-Head writer doesn’t audition a single woman, non-binary individual, or person of color. In fact, he doesn’t audition anyone at all except a single white dude.

-In an interview shortly following this announcement, head writer openly MOCKS and laughs at the idea of a female Doctor on the show and no mention of race is made at all.

– THEREFOR, head writer is an asshole and we’re all a little sick of him. Damn, this fandom has exactly 0 critical thinking or comprehension skills sometimes.

What you have looked at in YOUR reply is a tiny, tiny piece of the general frustration the fandom feels towards Moffat. My original post was aimed at talking about a SINGLE argument that fans were using to the tune of “well, Capaldi is just the best actor who auditioned!” when we began to criticize the continued lack of diversity and representation within the show.
