1. Their carapaces are supple, the opposite of rigid. The MSPA Wiki stated that they were rigid until I corrected it a couple years ago. Source
2. Carapacians pee and poop. It has been referenced at least three times, once by WV needing to wait to pass the Uranium, and twice in Alpha Jack/Jack English’s Jail Break shenanigans. SourceSourceSourceSource
3. Now that being said (that carapacians eat, sleep, pee, and poop), it stands to reason that they are living creatures with all natural functions, such as reproduction. Carapacians have children. This is seen in a print that was for sale and used in an official Homestuck calendar.
If this is not considered canon enough, there’s more. In [S] Seer: Descend, there is an entry in the library on the Battlefield that explicitly expresses this fact. Source
I think what we were meant to gather from the narrative is that the initial population is established via bio-engineering in the Veil, and then left to propagate themselves.
4. In light of THIS fact, carapacian populations inherit the planet of players in the sessions. They exiled from the Medium and are meant to make the planets habitable again. The carapaces of the trolls’ session were so successful at this, they appear to have completely filled both Alternian moons (and I think parts of the planet itself) with cities (originally one city apparently founded by the Scurrilous Straggler). That would be seemingly impossible with the initial amount of cloned carapacians, especially considering that the Veil is off limits to carapaces, and inaccessible once leaving the Medium.
5. The Midnight City or Negrocity (which is seen, described, and alluded to in the Intermission, Doc portions [o], and [s] Cascade) is either 612 or 1224 sweeps (or 1326 – 2652 years) old when the clock vault destroys it, the Condesce arrives, and the Handmaid is simultaneously enlisted into Lord English’s service as a child and is killed by the Condesce as an adult. These numbers are gathered from Doc’s history lesson, where he states that it takes the Condesce 612 sweeps to get home after the Vast Glub, but her trip out and back could be considered, and the 600-some (presumably 12) sweeps it took for the Handmaid to arrive on Alternia.
6. We aren’t sure how long carapaces are active in a session before the players enter (or if we are, I don’t remember, so please let me know), but we do know they are active for AT LEAST most of the players’ lifespans, as Jade interacted with Prospitians for as long as she can remember. It’s also possible that the un-prototyped populations are active since the beginning of the universe their game takes place in. That being said, PM, WV, and JN are at LEAST 419 years old (without including the millions of years of Earth history that might also be probable), and SS is anywhere between 1342 and 2668 years old (also not including all of Alternian history he could’ve been alive on Derse).
7. The Midnight Crew and Snowman survived on Alternia as mobsters for at least a thousand years without getting killed or even maiming each other. Slick’s life had never been upset enough before his casino was wrecked to enter into any lethal combat with the Felt. Likely it was closer to Saturday Morning shenanigans where there is fist shaking and escapes and only the Felt are ever killed (as suggested in “The Inaugural Death of Mister Seven”) because they can fix that. His kismesisitude also never got violent before this time when Snowman gouged out Slick’s eye and tore of his arm, instigating him to be able to pull the trigger. It didn’t work. Slick thought it was pretty bad ass and still made out with her and had to have his shit kicked in by Doc to do it.

9. In some form or another, carapacians can enter dream bubbles and interact with sleeping players … I think? Can anyone explain to me WHAT abstract bullshit is going on in WV’s dream where godtier Vriska kicks him on the nose and makes him wake up? How is that possible? What does it mean? Aside from this instance, we’ve never seen carapacians in dream bubbles anywhere except from ones created by the players’ memories or if they were physically traveling through them either on or chasing the meteor, or the ones on board the ship with Jade. Might this be a skill only Dersites posses? It is very similar to “Imagination” in Problem Sleuth, which, therefore, might be the Prospitian equivalent, since Prospitians deal in creation and Skaia, and Dersites are out near the horror terrors, so then dreams and dead? Any thoughts? Source
And I’ve pretty much burned myself out for now. If you have anymore interesting Carapacian facts, or even thoughts, or theories, or anything you can clear up further, don’t be afraid to post them. I just really felt it was important to have some under-appreciated character love to cheer everybody up some in light of these recent events. And, again, please remember …
